New Orleans Casino Theater

Harrah’s New Orleans has long sought a true theater to compliment the casino and other entertainment options at the downtown New Orleans location, and it looks like that time has finally come.

Harrah’s filed plans with the city to renovate a portion of the casino in to The Fillmore Theater, a new live music and entertainment theater that will be managed by Live Nation.

The project consists of a 35,000 square foot interior renovation to the second floor of Harrah’s Casino and a new entryway facing Canal Street.

  2. New, state of the art building and technical systems including an expanded theatre stage house will ensure that the Saenger will be able to host the very finest performing arts attractions. New theatre seating, increased concessions and restroom facilities along with new lounge areas complete the scope of this truly remarkable effort!

The project may actually be two theaters in one, which is typical of Fillmore’s in other cities. A main room that would hold 2,000-3,000, and another club room that will hold ~450. Live Nation will use the theater to bring shows to New Orleans that are currently too big for the House of Blues, which they also manage.

The Fillmore brand originally started with the Fillmore Auditorium, a music venue that opened in San Fransisco in 1954. Live Nation acquired the rights to license the venue in 2007. Since then, Live Nation has expanded the brand to other cities around the country, including clubs in Denver, Detroit, Philadelphia, New York, Miami, Charlotte, and Washington D.C.
